Despite receiving offers from Mohun Bagan, this player decides to stay at East Bengal

Dibyendu

Kolkata: East Bengal goalie Dibyendu Sarkar was reportedly approached by Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan to be a part of the upcoming Calcutta Football League (CFL) however the player refused to join the Mariners for certain reasons.

Sarkar caught the eye of Bagan coach Sanjoy Sen and as a result Mohun Bagan approached their rivals East Bengal and requested them to release the players and negotiations had started for a while.

Under the ongoing circumstances, Dibyendu who is with the red and Gold brigade for the past 3 years, underwent a change in mind and decided to stay in his club as he feels that there a too many goalies in Bagan, and as a result he won’t be getting much of playing time.

Certain confusion earlier rose as to whether East Bengal would release their player to a rival club, but now when the player has made up his mind, the matter gets ultimately dissolved.

“If I get playing chances, I would like to prove myself to the team. I am recently undergoing practice with the team and would like to outdo myself. There is not much competition for the place in the team. The coach has his trust on me, I would like to return the favour if I get any playing chance” said Dibyendu.
