Having had a terrific start to his first-class career, Jaiswal emphasized his love for Test cricket, stating that he enjoys the unique challenges it presents. When he was selected for the West Indies series, there was considerable debate about his batting position. However, head coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma entrusted him with the opening slot, a decision Jaiswal justified by expressing himself freely on the big stage.

“Spoke to Rohit Sharma a lot while batting together. He was telling me how to bat on this wicket and where to score. There was good communication between us. Even before the game he was telling me that ‘I have to do it, you’rre the only person’. I also kept thinking about it and how to score and prepare mentally. So, I’ve learnt a lot from this game and I’ll try to continue this in the future,” Jaiswal added.

The 21-year-old extended his appreciation to Rohit Sharma and the team management for showing faith in him and giving him the opportunity to open the innings, replacing Shubman Gill. Jaiswal acknowledged the difficulty in earning opportunities in the Indian team and thanked everyone, including the supporters, team management, and Rohit Sharma.

Reflecting on the match conditions, Jaiswal mentioned that the pitch was on the slower side, with a slow outfield. He faced the challenges posed by the conditions, the hot weather, and aimed to contribute to his country by playing ball-by-ball and enjoying the game.

In conclusion, Jaiswal's debut Test century was an emotional milestone for him, and he expressed pride in his achievement while remaining thankful to everyone who supported him. He viewed this as just the beginning of his journey and expressed his desire to perform well in the future.
