COTIF Cup: India U20 creates history to beat Argentina U20 team 2-1

XtraTime Web Desk: India U20 Colts created history as they beat mighty Argentina U20 team 2-1 in a mouthwatering clash in their fourth match of the COTIF Cup in Valencia, Spain today. Argentina is the six-time U20 World Cup champions which is the most by any team.




Deepak Tangri scored the opener for India from a corner on the 4th minute of the game to give his side a 1-0 lead. At the very first minutes of the game India showed everyone that they are here to win the game and rewrite history. At the end of the first half the score remained the same.




In the second half the young colts looked in a bit of trouble as the referee showed Aniket Yadav marching orders for a bad foul on an Argentine player. The incident happened on the 54th minute of the game. Despite of playing with 10 men India continued to attack on Argentine defence and they finally got the result on the 68th minute as defender Anwar Ali doubled the lead for India U20 team. Anwar was fouled outside the box and the referee awarded a free-kick. Anwar did nothing wrong and scored a stunner from the spot for his side. Though the powerful Argentina scored in just 4 minutes to slender the lead 2-1. Though the colts held their nerves in the final minutes to help the nation creating history on Spanish soil.




A couple of days back in their last game, the India U20 Colts showed the same intent as they hold mighty Venezuela U20 into a goal-less draw.Venezuela are the current U20 FIFA World Cup Runners-Up and fielded as many as four first team players of that team, which played the final in 2017.
