Copa America: Hosts Brazil to face Venezuela in opener at Brasilia, Final to be played at Rio de Janeiro

Xtra Time Web Desk: Hosts Brazil will take on Venezuela in the first match of Copa America at Brasilia, announced the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) on Wednesday. The final of the tournament will take place at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

The tournament is being held in Brasil as co-hosts Argentina and Colombia were replaced at the last moment by CONMEBOL.It will be the second time in a row the tournament has been hosted in Brazil despite concerns about the health situation in the country, which saw almost 100,000 new COVID-19 cases reported on Wednesday along with more than 2,500 deaths, according to government data.

As per the tournament schedule Brazil will start its campaign in Group B against Venzuela at the Mane Garrincha stadium on June 13. Colombia, Ecuador and Peru are also in the group.

Argentina open their campaign at Rio’s Nilton Santos stadium against Chile on June 14. The group also features Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay.

The semifinals will take place at Nilton Santos stadium and Mane Garrincha stadiums on July 05 & 06 respectively.

The final will be played at the Maracana stadium on July 10.
