XtraTime Web Desk: After months of speculation it has been finally confirmed that ATK-Mohun Bagan will be the name of new club in Indian Super League from 2020-21 season. The official announcement in this regard has been delayed due to the current scenario because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The new entity has officially started their journey from June 01.The logo of the new team and jersey will also be officially announced in due course.

The name of the new company ATK Mohun Bagan Private Limited has already been 'reserved' on the official site of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. So there can be no doubts now that the new team will be named as ATK Mohun Bagan. It was expected as the Sanjeev Goenka owned ATK had 80% stake in the new company compared to 20% by Mohun Bagan. There was a speculation though that the new team might be called Mohun Bagan ATK , keeping in mind the legacy of the century old club of the country. But that speculation has now been put to rest.

The club tent of Mohun Bagan will be used by the new team which will be opened on June 15, tweeted Mohun Bagan in its official twitter handle.

Earlier Mr Sanjeev Goenka in a television interview did give a hint of the name of the new team by saying, that the name of the new entity after the merger will be called ATK Mohun. But everything will depend on the board meeting.

The new team ATK Mohun Bagan will get a direct spot in AFC Cup by virtue of Mohun Bagan being the reigning I League winners. Mohun Bagan has won the I League twice along with winning the National Football League three times. ATK on the other hand are the most successful team in ISL having won the championship thrice.
