Image Source: XtraTime[/caption] Debasis Sen, London: It will be debated whether Indian team management made a right decision in not playing Ravichandran Ashwin against Sri Lanka on Thursday. The off-spinner is yet to play any match in the ensuing ICC Champions Trophy. Both Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja were taken to the cleaners by the Sri Lankan batsmen as they went for 104 runs in 13 overs. Forever a true team-man, Ashwin was seen sharing his inputs to Jadeja yesterday during the match against the Lankans. The tweaker looked more focus in the practice sessions of the Indian team. Although Kohli did admit that Ashwin made his job a lot easier by accepting that sometimes one has to make way for the combination what the team management feels was best suited for a particular match. The World No. 1 bowler in test cricket was seen trying different things at nets at the Oval on Tuesday, a day before the clash against Sri Lanka. He was seen bowling at one stump under the watchful eyes of fielding coach Sridhar. Both were seen discussing over a delivery. Before coming here to England, Ashwin did say he was ready with a bagful of new tricks, which he hopes to display during the Champions Trophy. After a gruelling home season of 13 Tests, Ashwin was advised rest during the IPL and the tweaker's next assignment is India's Champions Trophy defence. "I might be able to throw something new in this tournament (Champions Trophy), hopefully. I am equipped enough to do so. The two warm-up games (vs New Zealand, vs Bangladesh) will give me an indication on how well I go in the tournament," Ashwin said on the sidelines of the CEAT Tyres annual awards function. "It depends on how well my variations will come to fore, so just hoping that these practice matches can be put to good use and I bring something in new to the table and give something new to the team," a confident Ashwin said. It goes to be seen whether the team management decide to play him against the crucial game against South Africa on Sunday. It has turned out to be a do or die tie for both the teams as a loss would bring curtains to their campaign in the tournament.
