XtraTime Web Desk: Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich produced one of the best moments in Champions League history as they absolutely demolished Barcelona in a ten goal thriller, winning 8-2 to book a spot in the semi finals at the Estadio da Luz. Thomas Muller (4’,31’), Ivan Perisic (21’), Serge Gnabry (27’), Joshua Kimmich (63’), Robert Lewandowski (82’) and P Coutinho (82’,85’) were on the score-sheet for the German champions while Luis Suarez (57’) scored the only consolation goal for Barca. David Alaba conceded an own goal in the 7th minute.
Thomas Muller, making his 113th Champions League appearance gave Bayern an early lead in the 4th minute but it was soon cancelled out by a freak own goal from David Alaba (7). But the German side powered in three goals inside 9 minutes to open the floodgates as Ivan Perisic (22), Serge Gnabry (28) and Muller (31) netted in quick succession.

Barcelona coach Quique Setien bought on Antoine Griezmann at the break and it produced a slight glimmer of hope for the Catalans as Luis Suarez reduced the margin in the 57th minute. But that did not deter the Bayern footballers as they showed more intent on the pitch. A sensational solo run on the left from Alphonso Davies set up the fifth goal for Bayern as he found Joshua Kimmich running in to find the back of the net. Robert Lewandowski scored his 14th goal in Champions League this season to make it 6-2 for Bayern in the 82nd minute. Philippe Coutinho then struck twice (85’ & 89’) against his former club to put the final nail in the coffin.

Bayern Munich will now meet the winner of Manchester City and Lyon, for a spot in the final.
