CFL 2018: Peerless shocks East Bengal with a stunning win

Kolkata: Peerless AC stunned Quess East Bengal FC in their own backyard, as the Giant-killer of this edition of Calcutta Football League Premier Division- A, shocked the Red & Gold brigade by 2-1 today. Two former Mohun Bagan footballers Ansumana Kromah and Narohari Sreshtha scored for Biswajit Bhattacharya’s team to help the Mariners hugely to touch their long awaited CFL title after 8 years.

It was East Bengal’s former forward Ansumana Kromah, who gave the lead to the Peerless side in the 6th minute of the game. East Bengal’s star world-cupper Johnny Acosta Zamora was totally foxed by the cunning centre forward as goalkeeper Rakshit Dagar was a mere spectator while conceding the goal.

East Bengal’s delight lasted only 6 minutes as Peerless took the lead immediately in the 78th minute when Narohari Srestha’s long range effort took a deflection and ended at the back of the net to give Biswajit Bhattacharya one of the famous wins of his career.
