Kolkata: Henry Kisekka finds the target as Mohun Bagan registers the first victory in their opening game of the Calcutta Football League 2018 at the Mohun Bagan by 1-0 against newly promoted Pathachakra at the Mohun Bagan Ground today.
It was the substitute Tirthankar Sarkar who delivered a brilliant in swinging corner from the right in the 76th minute and Ugandan forward Henry Kisekka pounced on it to break the deadlock. Pathachakra played a solid game and hardly allowed the Mariners to play their natural game in the first half.
Henry Kisekka came perilously close in giving Bagan the lead in the early minutes of the second half, but his shot came off the woodwork. Pathachakra would have even equalized in the dying minutes of the game as the Purple brigade missed a sitter from handshaking distance. Opening games are always difficult and no wonder the three points would give Bagan coach Sankarlal Chakraborty a huge sigh of relief.
