Kalyani: After a sensational victory over rivals Mohammedan Sporting, Mohun Bagan seemed to have rejuvenated their hopes in winning the Calcutta Football League 2017. The Mariners made a resounding come back over Mohammedan Sporting despite being down by a goal in the 22nd minute.
After match got finished, Mohun Bagan coach Shankarlal Chakraborty told the media, “We are ready for any challenge. If we have to play with ten men against East Bengal in the derby, we are ready for that as well.” He added, “We are still very positive about winning the league. It’s not yet over.”
On the flip side, Mohun Bagan’s hero for the game, Azharuddin Mallick though dedicated the match winning performance to his parents and said, “I always play well in the derby. It’s not fair when I hear that people are saying that kind of things. I scored a goal even in the last derby which I played. The game showed again that I can perform in the big games.”
On the flip side, Mohun Bagan official Debashish Dutta was literally pleased with the way the game was organized. He said, “We are really happy with the arrangements. The organizers really worked hard. If we are asked to play the East Bengal vs Mohun Bagan match at this venue, we have no problem as well.”
