Kolkata: With a 3-0 win over Southern Samity East Bengal continued their winning run and topped the CFL table with 14 goals. The first goal came in the 7th minute when a cross from Brendan saw Laldanmaiya Ralte chip past the opponent goalie’s head Bhaskar Roy to give his side a 1-0 lead. Though the first half score remained 1-0 at first half the Red and Gold brigade lost many scoring opportunities like the previous games.

Failing to score from good opportunities has been a problem for the Kolkata giants for a long time and after today’s performance would certainly keep the coach worried.
However the 56th minute saw Al Amna making a cross to Samad Ali Mullick who from the corner’s end scored a brilliant goal.

The third goal came in the 74rd minute when Willis Plaza took a powerful shot but failed to score as the ball hit the post, however Al Amna came to the rescue when he scored from the rebound. and scored his first goal in this season.

Things took an ugly turn in the 66th minute when Gurwinder Singh was punched by Oko Sakibo. East Bengal fans started behaving unruly and Police had to intervene to stop the angry fans and for arguing with the referee Rakesh Masih was awarded a yellow card.

Despite East Bengal’s victory the side played casual football. Had the opponent been any other team then the Red and gold brigade would have paid a price owing to their horrible defense line up.

After the match the players congratulated their fans and waved off their supporters with a victory lap.
