Internet Desk: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday filed a case in connection to wrestler Narsingh Yadav’s doping case. Yadav was denied the chance to participate in the Rio Olympics after he failed a doping test.

“The WFI president had sought a CBI enquiry in the matter in his meeting with the Prime Minister on his return from Rio. The matter has now been referred to the CBI,” the federation confirmed last month.

Yadav, who won a spot for India at the Rio Olympics, tested positive for a banned steroid following a dope test in July. Although the National Anti-Doping Agency gave him clean chit in August, the World Anti-Doping Agency rejected it and appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The CAS slapped a four-year ban on Yadav a day before he was supposed to fight his first bout in the Summer Games.

Narsingh had filed a criminal complaint against junior wrestlers for adulteration of his food before leaving for Rio but nothing of substance was done since then. This possibly led to his undoing with CAS questioning lack of action in nabbing the guilty.
