Sania Mirza-Martina Hingis ease into women’s doubles Rd 2
India’s Sania Mirza and her partner Martina Hingis advanced to the second round of the Wimbledon Championship with a straight-set victory over Zarina Diyas of Kazakhstan and Saisai Zheng of China in London on Wednesday. The top seeded Indo-Swiss pair defeated Diyas and Zheng 6-2 6-2 in the opening women’s doubles match that lasted an hour and nine minutes at the All England Lawn Tennis. Sania and Martina will next take on Kimiko Date-Krumm and Francesca Schiavone. The Indo-Swiss combination converted four of the eight breakpoint opportunities that came their way, while their rivals failed to make use of the six chances and failed to cross the first hurdle. Sania and Martina dominated throughout the match against their Kazak-Chinese rivals to eventually seal off the issue rather comfortably.
