CAB 1st Div. League: Joyjit scores a ton to keep the match in a balance

Kolkata: East Bengal ended their innings on after a comfortable score of 390/9 at the end of 126 overs in the CAB 1st Division semi finals.

The Red and Gold side ended day 1 after scoring 224/6 from 89 overs.
B Amit played a brilliant innings and took his side back in the game after scoring a century and remained 101 not out. East Bengal captain Suvojit Banerjee missed scoring the century after he was dismissed on 96.

Pritam Chakraborty and Raj Kumar Pal were the most successful bowlers from the Bagan camp as both scarped three wickets each.

Chasing a target of 391, the Green and Maroon brigade lost their opening wicket when Wriddhiman Saha was dismissed after scoring 36 runs. Two other wickets were also lost in quick succession after Sudip Chatterjee and Subhomoy Das was dismissed.

Opener Jayojit Basu kept the runs going and he played a brilliant knock and registered a ton.
Mohun Bagan ended day 2 after scoring 166/3 at the end of 42 overs. Bagan now need 225 runs to win the game against their Arch rivals.

East Bengal cricketer B Amit said “I have played for Mohun Bagan before and I know their bowling attack very well and as a result it was comfortable for me to score against them. Playing with an experienced cricketer like Suvojit has helped me to establish a good partnership with him. We are playing well and hopefully we can win this game”

“Though we have lost a few early wickets but my partnership with Arindam is most vital. We have played for a long time and a lot will depend on it. The hot and humid condition makes the game even tougher” said Bagan opener Joyjit Basu.

In the other semi finals, Writtick Chatterjee played a brilliant innings of 140 not out and took his team to a good position against Town Club.
