BWF World Championships 2023: HS Prannoy settle for bronze as he loses to Vitidsarn 18-21, 21-13, 21-14 in semi-final

Xtra Time Web Desk: India’s ace shuttler HS Prannoy had to settle for bronze at the BWF World Championships after losing to Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn 18-21, 21-13, 21-14 in the seminal in Denmark on Saturday. Vitidsarn, made a great comeback after losing the first game and trailing 1-5 in the second to make it to the consecutive World Championships final.

Prannoy stunned World No.1 and defending champion Viktor Axelsen in the quarterfinal on Friday. After losing the first game against the top seed, Prannoy bounced back and clinched a 13-21, 21-15, 21-16 victory. Before defeating Axelsen, Prannoy clinched a 21-18, 15-21, 21-19 victory against seventh seed Loh Kean Yew in the third round.

It clearly seemed Prannoy was exhausted and fatigued after playing two tough opponents in two days.

Kidambi Srikanth is so far the only Indian to reach the final in Men’s Singles in the BWF World Championships. He clinched a silver medal in 2021.
