Xtra Time Web Desk: Spanish football giant Barcelona terminated their agreement with the French defender Samuel Umtiti. The contract was supposed to run until the 2025-26 season. In the past season, Umtiti played on loan at Italian club Lecce. However, with two years remaining on his contract, Barcelona decided to part ways with him.
Umtiti joined Barcelona in 2016 and had some good years, but injuries prevented him from performing consistently in recent seasons. The 29-year-old defender played 25 matches for Lecce last season.
However, Barcelona, is not interested in keeping the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner in the team anymore, leading to the decision to terminate the contract through mutual discussions.
