New Delhi , December 20 : As per the latest reports, former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin has married for the third time. Recently, Azhar tied the knot with his American girlfriend Shannon Marie. Azhar was previously married to Naureen and Bollywood actress Sangeeta Bijlani, but both the marriages ended up in a divorce.
On Saturday, Azhar went to Shamli in Uttar Pradesh to visit the family of his driver Jaan Mohammad, who died in an accident in September. Azhar was accompanied by a burqa-clad woman. When curiosity over the identity of this mysterious woman increased, Azhar introduced her to everyone as his wife, said the reports.
Azhar and Shannon were first spotted together during their holiday in Paris in 2013. However, Azhar maintained that Shannon is a ‘good friend’. Azhar and his wife were recently present during an IPTL match featuring the Indian aces and Phillippine Mavericks in New Delhi.
In 2000, the stylish Hyderabadi cricketer was found guilty of match-fixing and he was subsequently banned from all forms of cricket for life. Even though the ban was overturned in 2012, Azhar’s career already came to an end by then.
Azhar was first married to Naureen, with whom he had two sons, Asad and Ayaz, and whom he divorced after nine years of marriage. He then married model-actor Sangeeta Bijlani in 1996 before the couple separated in 2010. A year later, his son Ayazuddin, aged 19, died in a road accident.
The former India captain’s life has been nothing short of a roller-coaster and soon people will get to witness it in his biopic titled ‘Azhar’, in which bollywood actor Emran Hashmi will play the lead role. Regarded as one of India’s best captains and the best slip fielder back in the day, Azhar’s career ended in disgrace, with him receiving a life ban for alleged involvement in match-fixing in the year 2000.
