Xtra Time Web Desk: In a remarkable display of skill and determination, Indian shooter Sift Kaur Samra claimed top honors in the women's 50m rifle 3-position individual event at the 2023 Asian Games held in Hangzhou on Wednesday. The competition unfolded resulting in gold for Samra and bronze for Ashi.

Samra's performance was nothing short of extraordinary, as she secured the gold medal with a world record score of 469.6, a testament to her exceptional marksmanship. Zhang Qiongyue of China earned the silver medal with a score of 462.3, narrowly edging out Chouksey after the latter's final shot yielded an 8.9.

Earlier in the day, the Indian trio of Samra, Chouksey, and Manini Kaushik combined their talents to claim a silver medal in the women's 50m rifle 3 Positions team event. India's team posted a commendable total score of 1764, finishing just nine points behind China, who secured the gold. The Republic of Korea took home the bronze with a score of 1756.

During the qualifications, Samra set a new National Record with an impressive score of 594, securing her second place in the individual final. China's Xia Siyu, who matched Samra's score, took the top spot in the qualification round due to more inner 10s. Chouksey also advanced to the individual final, ranking sixth with a total score of 590, while Kaushik finished 18th with 580 points.

With these outstanding achievements, India's medal tally at the ongoing Asian Games now stands at 18, showcasing the nation's prowess and dominance in the field of shooting sports.
