Asian Games 2023: Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh and Rhythm Sangwan wins gold medal in 25m Pistol event

Xtra Time Web Desk: The Indian shooting trio of Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh, and Rhythm Sangwan clinched the gold medal in the women’s 25m pistol team event at the Asian Games in Hangzhou on Wednesday. Their collective score of 1759 outshone China, who secured silver with just three points less at 1756. Meanwhile, the Republic of Korea secured the bronze with a score of 1742.

Manu Bhaker led the charge by topping the qualification round with an impressive score of 590. Esha Singh followed closely, finishing fifth with a score of 586. Unfortunately, Rhythm Sangwan, who scored 583, narrowly missed out on the final since only two shooters per country can advance.

This victory added to India’s stellar performance at the Asian Games, where they had already secured 16 medals, including four gold, five silver, and seven bronze medals.

Earlier in the day Ashi Chouksey, Manini Koushik, and Sift Kaur Samra, showcased their skill by winning a silver medal in the women’s 50m rifle 3 position event. They scored a total of 1764 points in the qualification round, securing the second spot on the podium. China claimed gold with an aggregate score of 1773, while South Korea secured the bronze with a total score of 1756.

Samra and Chouksey further impressed by qualifying for the finals, finishing second and sixth, respectively. Unfortunately, Manini Koushik finished 18th in the individual event. Notably, Sift Kaur Samra’s exceptional performance included a total score of 594, creating a new joint Asian record in the qualification round.
