File Pic[/caption] Internet Desk: Former Bengaluru FC gaffer Ashley Westwood has been appointed as the head coach of Malaysian side Penang FA for the 2017 Malaysia Super League.

Penang was on the lookout of getting a manager following their dismal show in the MSL last season, just managing to avoid relegation.

Westwood, who is doing expert analysis for Indian Super League was rumored to have visited Penang during the weekend.

Westwood has a very impressive footballing background. He started his football career with Manchester United’s youth set-up, before going on to play for a host of English clubs across various divisions. He started his managerial career by becoming a player-manager for Kettering Town in 2012, before making the jump to India to take charge of Bengaluru in 2013.

Under his coaching, Bengaluru FC won its first I-League title in 2014. Despite losing the title by two points the next season, he went on to inspire a revival and lead the Blues to their second league title in 2016.

He however decided to terminate his contract with the Blues in May 2016.
