Ashes 2023: England name Moeen Ali and James Anderson in playing XI for first test at Edgbaston

Xtra Time Web Desk: Two days before the first Ashes test at Edgbaston starting on Friday, England has named their playing XI. The National Selection Panel has included Moeen Ali, whpo has come out of his retirement along with James Anderson and Ollie Robinson. Both the pacers missed the series against Ireland due to injuries.

Experienced Stuart Broad has been preferred over Mark Wood. It will re-ignite the battle between Broad and Australian opener David Warner with the English pacer getting him out seven times out of 10 innings.

England’s young sensation, Harry Brook will continue to bat at number five ahead of Jonny Bairstow, who will don the wicketkeeping gloves and will come in at number 7.  England have made a bold statement by announcing their XI two days in advance, giving a hint of the ‘fearless cricket’ they will be playing in the action-packed series.
