Xtra Time Web Desk: A fine spell of swing bowling from Arshdeep Singh and a strokeful fifty from Suryakumar Yadav helped India register a comprehensive 8 wickets win over Proteas in the first T20I at the Greenfield Stadium in Trivandrum on Wednesday.

Chasing a modest target of 108 runs, India lost both its star players – captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli early. But fine half centuries from KL Rahul (51 off 56) and Suryakumar Yadav (50 off 33) helped India chase down the modest target with 8 wickets to spare.

Earlier it was Deepak Chahar (4-24-2) and Arshdeep Singh (4-32-3) who set the stage on fire with terrific swing bowling. Arshdeep bagged three wickets while Chahar managed two wickets to restrict Proteas to 106/8. The win helped India take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
