Argentina announces interim Head Coaches to replace Sampaoli

XtraTime Web Desk:
Lionel Scaloni and Pablo Aimar will take charge of Argentina on an interim basis in the wake of Jorge Sampaoli’s exit from the role.

Scaloni was assistant to Sampaoli at the recent FIFA World Cup™ in Russia, where La Albiceleste were eliminated with a 4-3 defeat against eventual winners France in the Round of 16.

Former national team midfielder Aimar has held the role of Argentina U17 coach for the past year.

“Later we will decide who will assume the role permanently,” said Argentine Football Association president Claudio Tapia on Thursday. “We are going to take our time to make the right choice.”

Argentina’s next match is against Guatemala on 7 September in Los Angeles, before a meeting with Colombia in New Jersey four days later.
