Internet Desk: Tennis stars spent another good day at US Open on Thursday. Second seed Andy Murray and two Williams sisters- Serena and Venus advanced to the third round of the grand slam.

It was a rain drained match for all the tennis stars at US yesterday. Murray battled through a tense first set to triumph 6-4, 6-1, 6-4. They match was played under a new $150 million roof of the Arthur Ashe stadium.

“We’re lucky that we get to play under the roof because otherwise there’d be no tennis,” said Murray, whose match went on as all action stopped on the outside courts. “It’s good for everyone.”

In another men’s singles match Argentine Del Porto also continued his good show after the Olympics. He defeated Steve Jhonson in a tough match to reach the third round.

Sixth seed as well as Olympic Bronze winner Kei Nishikori had a tough match against Russian Karen Khachanov as he lost the second set to win the match by 6-4 4-6 6-4 6-3.

Stan Wawrinka though had a tough match as he was challenged in every set by Italian Alessandro Giannessi. finally he won the match by 6-1 7-6(4) 7-5.

On the other hand for the women’s top seed Serena Williams it was another easy match. She won it by 6-3 6-3 against Vania King of USA.

Along with her, sixth seed sister Venus Williams coasted to the 70th US Open match win of her career 6-2, 6-3 win over Germany’s Julia Goerges.

Unfortunately all the matches of Indian players had been cancelled due to rain. The mixed doubles game of Rohan Bopanna and Gabriela Dabrowski has been canceled as has been the first round game of Leander Paes and Andre Begemann. Sania Mirza will also take rest for today due to heavy rains that have resulted in the cancellation of every game other than the ones at the Arther Ashe Stadium.
