AIFF Appeals committee give its final verdict on Ranjit Bajaj

XtraTime Web Desk: We all know that the owner of Minerva Punjab FC, Mr. Ranjit Bajaj was banned AIFF’s Disciplinary Committer under Article 23 on 13th May 2018. He was banned for 1 year and beside that was fined with rupees 10 lakhs as he was alleged for racially abusing a referee during Minerva Punjab’s U18 League match.

Mr. Bajaj denied all the allegations and appealed against the verdict to the AIFF’s Appeals Committee. The committee heard the case on July 25 this year. In the hearing MPFC Counsel Mr. Amitabh Tewari

Said that Bajaj never got an opportunity to defend himself and the committee also didn’t hear any explanation from Ranjit Bajaj.

Just a month ahead of the start of the new I-League season the Appeals committee finally gave its verdict on Monday. They have turned the decision in favour of Minerva owner and revoked the ban which was imposed on Ranjit Bajaj by the disciplinary committee.

The committee observed in its judgement “Considering that the charges leveled are of such serious nature, and if proved would invite serious consequences, the committee believes that a chance of hearing could have been given. The committee is also mindful of concerns raised regarding the impugned order being contrary to the provisions of Article 116 of the Disciplinary Code.”
