Xtra Time Web Desk : In the upcoming AFC Cup preliminary round match on the coming Wednesday, Mohun Bagan Super Giant will face Nepal’s Machhindra FC.

But how good is Machhindra FC? They previously secured victory against Bhutan’s Paro FC in a 3-2 match result, earning them a spot in the preliminary round. Established in 1973 in Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu, Machhindra FC has been making its mark in football. Despite their recent successes, they’ve been consistent competitors, clinching victories in various leagues including the Martys Memorial A-Division League, Nepal’s top-tier local league, twice.

While they triumphed in their previous matches, Machhindra FC had a challenging time against Paro FC, where they managed to score a total of 11 goals over the course of the four-legged contest. Notably, Nigerian forward Afeez Olofade is a key player in their lineup. He scored 23 goals in the previous season’s league and has been a standout performer. Additionally, another prominent player in their squad is Nepal’s top player, Bimal Gharti Magar, who previously played for Mohun Bagan in the 2017-18 season.

The role of their coach, Kishor Kumar Kc, will be crucial in this match. Kishor prefers an aggressive style of football and favors the 4-3-3 formation, which emphasizes forward play, leading to Machhindra FC’s high goal-scoring record.

Although on Wednesday, Mohun Bagan will be known as “Underdogs” against Machhindra FC at the Yuva Bharati Krirangan, the heavyweights from Nepal will be striving to make their mark and leave an impression in the match.
