Internet Desk: Mohun Bagan almost confirm their pre-quarter spot with a 1-1 stalemate against Yangon United at Yangon on Wednesday. Adilson (23′) opened the nutshell for the hosts while Cornell Glen (42′) drew level for the visitors.

Ciornell Glen missed a sitter inside the opening ten minutes. After going past defenders Kunihiro and KM Lwin, the Trinidadian went for the far post with his weaker left foot but the grounded shot went  inches wide.

Yangon played the counter attacks well and Adilson almost had his name onto the scoresheet in the 19th minute. With a solo run into the box, the former Corinthians player could only shoot over the bar, giving Das Sarma a real scare.

However, the deadlock was broken four minutes from the half hour mark by Adilson. Kyaw Ko Ko supported him well with a one-two pass beating Pritam Kotal on the run. As Adilson moved inisde the box, Luciano Sobrosa was slow to react as Ko Ko’s cross was perfectly dislogded by the 29 year old found the far corner of the net to have the home side take the lead.

35 year old Cornell Glen got the equaliser for Mohun in the 42nd minute. Lenny Rodrigues found the marksman from range The sly striker timed his run around Zaw Min Tun perfectly to avoid the offside trap and simply scooped it into goal through Luiz’s defense.

Yangon were the much better team with bright individual talent at display. David Htan did well to organise play in midfield and lso cleared an important cross from Cornell Glen directed towards Jeje.Luciano Sobrosa and Pritam Kotal were second best to the pace heavy duo of Kyi Lin and Kyaw Ko Ko who time and again tested the compactness of the Mohun Bagan backline.

With points shared, Mohun Bagan have ten points from four games and virtually need a point from the remaing two games to secure a place in the knockout rounds. As for Yangon, the point will go a long way into what will be an interesting Group ‘G’ as Maziya remain in close contetnion as well.
