Few days back they drew with champion club from Qatar Al Rayyad coached by world cup winning French coach Laurent Blanc. On Saturday night their stubborn defence ensured that they again hold Al Wahda to a 0-0 draw. Al Wahda are a formidable side on the Asian football scene as compared to FC Goa, plying their trade in the United Arab Emirates, and it is quite the formidable feat for Goa to walk away from this game with a point.
They showed a great deal of grit and determination, formidably holding their goal with the help of a heroic performance from their goalkeeper, Dheeraj. It was not as if they were sitting back and defending either, as they hit Al Wahda on the counter quite a few times. Both teams had their chances, and in the end, there was nothing to separate the two, despite them working very hard to try and produce a result.
Fans took to Twitter to commend the side, with the primary focus being laid on that stellar goalkeeping performance, and a missed opportunity hitting the post courtesy of Brandon Fernandes. Even rival fans joined in on the action, in commending a draw that saw the Indian side put in every ounce of effort they could muster.
