Internet Desk: Veda Krishnamurty becomes the third Indian cricketer to play for the Women's Big Bash League after she signed a one year contract with Hobart Hurricanes, scheduled to start from December 9. The Big Bash campaign will be short for Veda as she will have to return to the Indian camp as they will beginning their tour to South Africa from February 5. "The way I played in the World Cup... I feel I finally played to my potential, despite having been around for so many years," Krishnamurthy told Cricbuzz on Wednesday. "I made a decision of what I am going to do and how I am going to play [at the World Cup]. I was given the role of the finisher, so to say, and I feel I did my part well, and that is the main reason I have got the offer today." Veda played the crucial role of a match finisher in the World Cup at England where she drove her nation to victory in a special knock against New Zealand. The Hobart Hurricanes skipper Heather Knight considers Veda to an important part of the team and a vital inclusion to the squad. As per reports the Australian side had approached Veda and the BCCI a month ago but the deal was held off due to uncertainty of dates for the tour of South Africa. "Frankly, I wasn't expecting any [offer], so this came it as a pleasant surprise. I was expecting the South Africa series would start sometime in the middle of January, so I could have played only, say, four or five games," she said. "It took more than a month to come into effect. Firstly, they were looking at someone who could play the whole tournament and I wasn't sure when exactly we were going to play the South Africa series. So it took a while. I didn't sign it as [soon as] the offer came. (I) waited for [tour] dates to be confirmed." "It will be a good experience. Harman's already started a trend there and she's done extremely well. And now, I just want to do my part. At the same time, franchise leagues are about enjoying the game as well. But I do need to play my best because I will be representing India there. So, that is one thing that I am looking forward to do. "It is going to be a different team for me and I will be completely out of my comfort zone. It's a completely different set up when I am playing for India... that is now my comfort zone. But when I play there, it will be different sort of cricket because I'll be a complete stranger to everybody in my team there. It's not like the team that has been practising or the team has been gelling around together for years like how it is with the Indian team. And [in such a scenario] I will get to learn a lot of things. I'll be all by myself and I won't have the cushion that I have here. "Since I will be playing more matches, I will be, probably, able to handle situations better when I am later playing India; I would have fair idea about what to do in critical situations," Veda concluded.
