Manager Diego Simeone and the other stars of Atletico Madrid have been provided the opportunity to have a first tour of their next home venue after they took a trip to see the progress on their new destination Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

The new Stadium will open it’s doors in the next season and manager Diego Simeone took his team around to check the work site as they took in their surroundings.
 
The group posed for a team shot and the stars got to wander around the ground themselves, decked out in top hats and visibility jackets.

Rumours are currently circulating that Antoine Griezmann may not be at Atletico next season, but he seemed just as excited as the rest of the team during the visit, posing for a picture with Diego Godin.
Fernando Torres also couldn’t resist a snap to mark his first visit to the new stadium, that will be able to fit 70,000 fans come next campaign.

The new stadium is guaranteed to see Champions League football in its first season, but will have some way to go to fill the memories left behind at the Vicente Calderon.

Atletico will say goodbye to their home of 50 years when they face Athletic Bilbao on Sunday afternoon.

The club are set to host an extravagant farewell to the old ground, with fans and ex-players expected to be the focus of the celebrations.
 
And the club have also confirmed that supporters will be allowed to take their seats home with them as a memento following the final ever game at the grand old stadium.
