Ravindra Jadeja registered his 9th 5 wicket haul and his 2nd outside the nation. India won the match by an innings and 53 runs to take an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the three-match Test rubber. India registered their first win by an innings in SL. Overall it is their eight win in SL – the most for them in a visiting nation. Virat Kohli also became the first Indian captain to win two Test series in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka after a disastrous first innings were induced a follow on and recovered brilliantly in the second innings when they ended Day 3 on 209-2. Dimuth Karunanratne was the highest scorer for his nation, when he was dismissed on 141 just after lunch by Jadeja. Kusal Medis was the other batsman who registered a ton as he was dismissed on 110 the other day. The other middle order and tail ender batsmen failed to score big and thus couldn’t cross the follow-on. Angelo Mathews scored 36 while Niroshan Dickwella scored 31.

Racindra Jadeja was the most successful bowler when he scalped 5 wickets after bowling 39 overs.

India will play the third test on August 12, at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Balagolla.
