Xtra Time Web Desk: West Indies displayed a resilient batting performance on Day 3 of the second test match against India at Queens Park Oval on Saturday. Led by captain Kraigg Brathwaite's patient innings of 75 runs, the West Indies batsmen made India's bowlers toil hard on a slow and docile pitch. Due to rain interruptions and bad light, only 57 overs of play were possible on the rain-affected day, with West Indies reaching 229 for 5 at stumps.

Despite their improved discipline compared to the first Test, West Indies faced scrutiny for their slow scoring rate of 2.12 runs per over. Most of their batsmen focused on preserving their wickets and consumed significant time during the day. In the second session, they managed just 57 runs from 34.2 overs, scoring at a rate of 1.66 per over.

West Indies lost Kirk Mckenzie for 32, giving Mukesh Kumar his debut Test wicket. Jermaine Blackwood and Kraigg Brathwaite added 40 runs for the 3rd wicket before R Ashwin dismissed Brathwaite for 75. Ravindra Jadeja later claimed Blackwood's wicket for 20 runs, while Mohammed Siraj dismissed Joshua de Silva for 10 after Tea.

In the first innings, India posted a strong total of 438, bolstered by centuries from Virat Kohli and half-centuries from Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ravindra Jadeja, and R Ashwin. Kohli's century was particularly remarkable, as he showcased his class and experience while batting under pressure, making it his 29th Test century and his first in overseas conditions since December 2018.
