Image Source: ICC[/caption] Internet Desk: Shakib Al Hasan hit his fifth Test century while Mosaddek Hossain, on debut, made a crucial fifty as Bangladesh seized the advantage in the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Friday. Bangladesh was all out for 467, taking a 129-run lead in the first innings, having bowled Sri Lanka out for 338 on the previous day at the P Sara Oval. By stumps, Sri Lanka had cut the lead down to 75, with openers Dimuth Karunaratne and Upul Tharanga, unbeaten on 25 each as the team closed on 54 for no loss on the third day. Earlier, Shakib made 116 and received strong support from Mosaddek (75) and Mushfiqur Rahim, the captain, who scored 52 as Bangladesh put in an impressive performance in its 100th Test match. Bangladesh’s lead looked like it was going to be even bigger at one stage before Rangana Herath, the Sri Lanka skipper, made short work of the tail by taking three wickets for 13 runs to finish with 4 for 82. Herath — Test cricket's most successful left-arm spinner — also became only the second Sri Lankan bowler, after Muttiah Muralitharan, to get 1,000 first-class wickets. Sri Lanka was also well served by Lakshan Sandakan, the other left-arm spinner, who took 4 for 140. His scalps included the important one of Shakib, and he broke the 131-run seventh-wicket stand the Bangladesh allrounder had with Mossadek, when Shakib lofted a catch to Dinesh Chandimal at midwicket. Rahim had earlier shared a 92-run sixth wicket partnership with Shakib to help revive the visiting side’s innings. Bangladesh had lost three wickets in the space of seven balls in the last half-hour on Thursday, but Rahim was composed as he brought up his 17th Test half-century with a glorious off-drive off Dilruwan Perera through extra cover. Shakib, who had smacked 18 off eight balls on Thursday afternoon, completed his 50 off 69 balls with a single off Lakmal. He hit 10 boundaries overall in his 159-ball innings, bringing up his century by sweeping Perera to the boundary. Mosaddek then added 33 runs with Mehedi Hasan (24) to stretch Bangladesh's advantage before Herath underlined his quality with a quick finish. Bangladesh's innings ended when Mosaddek was stumped by Niroshan Dickewella, the wicketkeeper, after hitting seven fours and two sixes.
