2018 FIFA WC: Kane and Lukaku lead England & Belgium to win their opening matches

XtraTime Web Desk: England and Belgium win their opening fixtures, in the World Cup where the majority of the top teams failed to grab three points in their opening matches.




Romelu Lukaku scored twice as Belgium proved too good for World Cup debutantes Panama in the opening match in Group G, after Dries Martens scored a stunner.




After a goalless first half, Belgium, ranked third in the world, finally broke Panama’s resistance when Dries Mertens steered in a spectacular volley. Then Lukaku scored a brace with De Bruyne and Hazard being the providers.

Harry Kane on the other end appeared to be the deciding factor, as his brace help England steal a crucial victory over Tunisia. England who had 18 shots on target but struggled to get the winning goal untill the injury time goal by the Captain.




It was England who took the lead by their Captain in the 11th minute, but was equalized when the African side scored from a controversial penalty in the 35th minute.




The win would give the Three Lions some comfort before their next couple of games.

In the first game of the day, Sweden defeated South Korea by a solitary goal.
