[caption id="attachment_67819" align="aligncenter" width="594"] Guerrero boost for Peru ahead of the World Cup. | Image: Twitter[/caption] XtraTime Web Desk:  Peru captain Paolo Guerrero heaps a sigh of relief, as the experienced centre forward joins the training with the national squad after being cleared of a 14-month cocaine ban to play at this FIFA World Cup. Guerrero, who was originally ruled out of leading his country at the tournament in Russia after testing positive for cocaine, was cleared on Thursday by a Swiss Supreme Court judge. An interim order has been put in place to temporarily freeze his ban for the duration of the World Cup, allowing him to join his Peru team-mates on Friday where he reported for training. Guerrero, who will now lead his country at their first World Cup tournament since 1982, was understandably all smiles in training as Peru prepared for their upcoming friendlies against Saudi Arabia on Sunday, and then Sweden six days later. He can, however, count himself lucky. The veteran centre forward tested positive for benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine, at a World Cup qualifying game against Argentina in October and was banned as a result. He appealed the decision, after claiming he ingested the substance through 'contaminated tea', which was rejected. And in May, his ban was extended to 14 months after it expired that month.
