1st Test, Day 3: KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja shines with the bat as India take crucial lead
Xtra Time Web Desk: Ravindra Jadeja justified his selection with a brilliant half-century (56 off 87) as India took a crucial 95-run first-innings lead in firs test at Trent Bridge. At stumps on Day 3 (bad light and rain forced play to be abandoned) England are 25/0, still training by 70 runs. England fast bowler Ollie Robinson was the pick of the bowlers with his maiden five-wicket haul.
Jadeja added 73-runs with the tail enders on the third day as India managed 278 in their first innings in reply to England’s 183.
Robinson, who recently came back from suspension due to racism charges, bowled the hard lengths to pick up 5 for 85 in 26.5 overs, but James Anderson’s 4 for 54 was, perhaps, more impactful in the context of the Indian innings.
On the day, Anderson became the third highest wicket-taker in Test cricket when he surpassed Indian legend Anil Kumble. Only Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne remain ahead of Anderson now.
Opener KL Rahul laid the foundation for the visitors with a well-made 84 runs before he was undone by a Anderson delivery edging behind.
It was another rain-hit day with the first 95 minutes featuring only 11 deliveries due to a steady drizzle.
Earlier in the day Rishabh Pant (25 off 20 balls) was ready to take off from where he had left in Southampton, during the World Test Championship final against New Zealand. He was dismissed off a length ball that stopped as he committed on the drive without reaching to the pitch of the delivery and the short cover was in business.

On the other hand, we denounce with righteous indignation and dislike men who are so beguiled and demoralized by the charms of pleasure of the moment
