Wriddhiman Saha undergoes successful finger surgery

XtraTime Web Desk: Team India wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha sustained a fracture on his right ring finger during the recently concluded Pink ball Test in Kolkata against Bangladesh. The BCCI Medical Team consulted a hand and wrist specialist and it was suggested that Saha undergoes a surgical fixation of the fracture. Subsequently, he underwent a successful surgery in Mumbai on Tuesday and will soon commence his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy.

Saha was in news recently for becoming only the fifth wicketkeeper of the country to have 100 dismissals under his name. He caught Bangladesh opener Shadman Islam as he induced an edge off Umesh Yadav during the recently concluded Pink Ball Test against Bangladesh at Eden Gardens. Wriddhiman joined the likes of MS Dhoni, Syed Kirmani, Kiran More and Nayan Mongia to take more than 100 dismissals. The Bengal stumper pulled off a spectacular catch diving in front in the first innings to dismiss Mahmudullah. The superman like effort was applauded by Indian captain Virat Kohli and Head Coach Ravi Shastri.

Since last year, Saha has suffered multiple injuries. The 35-year-old was forced to return home after suffering a hamstring injury during the Test against South Africa in Cape Town after. Later he suffered a thumb injury that kept his participation in Indian Premier League (IPL) to only a few matches. The injury also kept him out of the one-off test against Afghanistan.
