XtraTime Newsweek: The FIFA World Team rankings have been reshuffled following the 2026 World Cup, with new winners Spain dethroning Argentina with a 1-0 victory in the final at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

Lionel Messi's team dropped one position in the rankings, to two, while France, who finished fourth in the World Cup, remained at number three. England, who won the bronze medal match against France 6-4, remained in fourth place.
Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal dropped down to the seventh place as five time champions Brazil replaced them in the top five. Morocco advanced to a program-best sixth in the world rankings, following their historic semifinal performance in Qatar 2022. The Atlas Lions extended their momentum into the 2026 World Cup, defeating the Netherlands on penalties in the Round of 32 before falling to France in the quarterfinals.
Germany, four-time world champions, slid from 10th to 12th place following a disappointing World Cup campaign that culminated with a Round of 32 loss to Paraguay on penalties.
Norway's Erling Haaland, who qualified for the World Cup for the first time in 28 years and advanced to the quarter-finals before losing 1-2 to England, were the greatest movers in the global rankings. The Norwegians jumped 12 positions to No. 19, while World Cup co-hosts Mexico and Switzerland each moved up five spots.
