Spain created history by defeating Argentina 1-0 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, lifting the prestigious trophy for the second time. While the scoreline suggested a closely contested match, the overall flow of the game painted a completely different picture.

Now, Brazilian legend Ronaldo Nazário has made a bold assessment of the final, claiming that Spain dominated the contest from start to finish.

According to Ronaldo, there was a significant gap in quality between the two sides.

"It was a completely one-sided game. The difference in quality between Spain and Argentina was huge. Even with Lionel Messi on the pitch, Argentina simply couldn't compete with Spain."

Before the final, Ronaldo had predicted that Spain would comfortably beat Argentina. Although the match ended with a narrow 1-0 scoreline, the two-time Ballon d'Or winner believes the margin should have been much greater.

Ronaldo acknowledged Argentina's fighting spirit but insisted that determination alone is not enough to win football's biggest prize.

"A brilliant player can win you a match, but to win the World Cup, you need a great team."

The Brazilian icon was also highly critical of Argentina's style of play.

"Argentina never played good football. They played very ugly football. Their biggest strength was their intensity and willingness to fight, but they didn't play beautiful football."

In contrast, Ronaldo praised Spain's footballing philosophy, describing it as the benchmark for the modern game.

According to him, Spain possess a clear identity, an established playing style, and currently play the best football in the world.

The legendary striker even went a step further, claiming that Spain's current brand of football has surpassed Brazil's famous "Jogo Bonito"—the beautiful game that defined generations of Brazilian football.

His comments have reignited debate across the football world following Spain's World Cup triumph over Messi's Argentina. While many fans believe Ronaldo simply voiced an uncomfortable truth, others have strongly disagreed with his assessment of the reigning runners-up.

One question now dominates the discussion: Has Spain officially become the new king of world football?
