Mexico created history by defeating the Czech Republic 3-0 on Wednesday night, completing a perfect group-stage campaign with three consecutive victories for the first time in FIFA World Cup history.

Second-half goals from Mateo Chavez and Julian Quinones within six minutes of each other put Mexico firmly in control before Alvaro Fidalgo added a third deep into stoppage time to seal an emphatic victory.

Despite a goalless first half, Mexico came alive after the break. Twenty-two-year-old Mateo Chavez opened the scoring in the 55th minute, netting a crucial goal in his debut World Cup campaign. Just six minutes later, Julian Quinones doubled the advantage with his second goal of the tournament.

Fidalgo completed the scoring in injury time, ensuring a convincing 3-0 triumph and underlining Mexico's dominance throughout the group stage.

The victory saw Mexico finish with a perfect record of three wins from three matches, marking the first time they have achieved a 100 percent success rate in the World Cup group stage. Their previous best performances came in 1986 and 2002, when they finished the group phase with two wins and one draw.

Having already secured qualification for the knockout stage as Group A winners, Mexico will return to action next Tuesday at the Azteca Stadium in the Round of 32. Their opponent has yet to be determined.

Meanwhile, the Czech Republic bowed out of the tournament after collecting just one point from three matches.

The match also symbolized a unique blend of Mexico's past and future. Seventeen-year-old Gilberto Mora became the youngest player ever to start a World Cup match for Mexico, setting a new national record.

Veteran goalkeeper Guillermo “Memo” Ochoa entered the game in the 77th minute, achieving a rare milestone by appearing in his sixth World Cup tournament. He joined an elite group that includes Lionel Messi of Argentina and Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal.

Mexico remain one of the tournament's standout teams, not only maintaining an unbeaten record but also yet to concede a single goal, further strengthening their credentials as serious contenders for World Cup glory.
