World Cup 2023: Asha Bhosle, Ranveer Singh, Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghoshal to perform live in opening ceremony

Xtra Time Web Desk: The stage is set for the grand opening ceremony of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 scheduled to take place on October 4 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, a day before the tournament opener between England and New Zealand opener on October 5. Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle will be the biggest draw for the gala opening ceremony at the Narendra Modi stadium. Bollywood star Ranveer Singh, renowned singers Shreya Ghoshal, Arijit Singh and Shankar Mahadevan will also perform live for the opening ceremony.

The event promises to be a spectacular one with a laser show, fireworks, and a showcase of Indian heritage. Captains from all ten participating teams will grace the occasion and there is a captain’s media day planned as well by International Cricket Council on October 4. Fans who have purchased tickets for the England versus New Zealand opening match will have the privilege of attending the ceremony.

Preparations for the grand event are in full swing, with a dedicated stage set up and rehearsals underway. The 10 team captains are expected to arrive in Ahmedabad on October 3, although most will arrive on the morning of October 4, including Rohit Sharma.

Due to the World Cup matches starting at 2 pm IST, the decision was made to hold the opening ceremony a day in advance to ensure the fireworks and laser show which can be enjoyed under the cover of darkness. Top officials from the International Cricket Council (ICC) and BCCI, as well as administrators from various cricket boards, will be in attendance, making it a truly grand spectacle for cricket enthusiasts worldwide.
