Will Hardik Pandya make a comeback from this series?

Xtra Time Web Desk: BCCI Secretary Jay Shah provided a positive update on Hardik Pandya’s comeback. According to the board secretary Hardik has been working hard on his rehab at the National Cricket Academy. The all-rounder is being monitored on a day-to-day basis and is expected to return to action from the T20I series against Afghanistan at home.

“He is being monitored on a day-to-day basis. He’s at the NCA. He’s working hard. We will let you know in due course. He can be fit even before the Afghanistan series,” said Jay Shah to reporters in Mumbai on the sidelines of WPL 2024 auction.

Hardik was involved in a freak injury during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 game against Bangladesh in Pune on November 19. He injured his ankle while trying to stop a ball in his follow through. He was ruled out for the subsequent matches in the World Cup and the T20I series that followed against Australia. He was also not part of white ball squads for the tour to South Africa.

Board secretary also indicated that Mohammed Shami could participate in the upcoming test series against South Africa. Currently, the Indian pacer is out of action, nursing an ankle injury that has been worrying him since the World Cup.

“Shami should be ready for the South Africa series. He is not at the NCA yet but will go there soon. We are confident he will recover in time,” said Jay Shah.
