What transpired Shoaib Akhtar to take the example of BCCI President Sourav Ganguly?

XtraTime Web Desk: Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar always loves to be in news with his loose comments. The Rawalpindi Express in a chat show has attacked the Pakistan Cricket Board for not using ex-cricketers like him. The former fast bowler went a step further in citing the examples of Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, Graeme Smith and Mark Boucher who are all involved in different roles in their respective cricket boards.

“Sourav Ganguly is president of BCCI, Rahul Dravid is heading the National Cricket Academy. Graeme Smith heads Cricket South Africa. Mark Boucher is the head coach, but the opposite is happening in Pakistan. They have not used me, my job was not to sit on TV shows, they should have allowed me to run cricket,” said Akhtar in a TV chat show.

He questioned the mentality of the elite class in Pakistan and said that they always want a weak person under them so that they can run affairs. “Elite class wants an average crowd under them so that they can always dictate terms to them. They need a chairman like that, a captain who is docile, do we need a captain or something else. A docile captain, what can he do, does he have to walk on to the field or offer prayers?”

Akhtar believes the nation’s cricket board can only prosper if they have the right people taking decisions.
