Kolkata: The Men in Blue just have won the T20I series 2-1 against New Zealand at Thiruvananthapuram couple of days back. India’s next assignment will be against Sri Lanka where they will play three Tests, three ODIs and three T20I. The first match of the three-match Test series will be played at the Eden Gardens starting from November 16. Ahead of that former India skipper MS Dhoni paid a visit to the ground. Regarded as one of the best finisher of the modern day cricket went in the middle to have a look at the wicket with Eden curator Sujan Mukherjee. Surprisingly he was seen in a white jersey, though it is known to everyone that the former World Cup winning captain had already retired from Tests three years back. Everybody started talking that, is Dhoni thinking of a comeback in Test cricket?
Few moments later the World Cup winning captain himself proved everyone wrong as he was seen doing an ad shoot for a renowned TMT Bar company at the ground. The Jharkhand maestro reached the City of Joy last night. Mahi was joined by another Indian World Cup winning captain, Haryana Hurricane Kapil Dev in the middle for the shoot where the legendary all-rounder bowled a couple of deliveries to Dhoni. Kapil too was in white jersey and both the greats shared some rare moments in the middle. This was the first time they were seen together in an ad shoot. Dhoni tried some helicopter shots during the shoot, on the other hand Kapil looked a bit down during his bowling due to his age. Both of them will stay in Kolkata for one more day. They will shoot the second part of this advertisement in a studio on Friday.
Dhoni’s childhood friend, Mihir Diwakar has come to Kolkata with him. On being asked when they have come to Kolkata, Diwakar said,” We have come here on Wednesday afternoon. It was planned six months back that we will visit Kolkata for this Ad shoot after being associated with SRMB. You know that Dhoni always have tough schedule and we got a gap for a month after the New Zealand series, that’s why we are here.”
This will be the first time that these two legends are sharing a frame together. Diwakar too looked excited to be a part of this.” Both of them are inspiration for all the upcoming cricketers. We have seen a revolution in Indian Cricket during Kapil Ji and Dhoni’s era and this would be the first time that these two legends will share same frame in a big platform like this.”
Diwakar didn’t open up about the theme of the shoot.”I don’t know much about the content but when two leaders meet together the theme most likely would be on that. The fans can see this advertisement at the start of the New Year.”
There are a lot of talks whether Dhoni has lost his finishing touch in the limited-overs game. His critics have started saying that he should retire too. On being asked whether Dhoni discusses these things with his friends, Diwakar said,” He plays cricket 24*7. Whenever we meet, we just talk about our good old days to relax ourselves. Discussion of cricket is totally banned when we meet each other.”
