Internet Desk: India skipper Virat Kohli has touched yet another feat after he equaled legendary Australian batsman Ricky Ponting’s tally of 30 ODI centuries. He has achieved this feat during the fifth and final ODI against Sri Lanka in Colombo today. He scored his ton in just 107 deliveries and during this innings Virat hit 8 boundaries too. Kohli is now behind legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar who has 49 centuries under his belt in ODIs. Kohli gave a humble reply after equaling the record of a legend like Ricky Ponting. According to the Delhi batsman he only wants to perform well for the team.

“As far as I go, I look to perform as well as I can for the team. These things keep happening as you go along in your career. You don’t target these things, but yeah, those stat windows are hard to neglect because they pop up everywhere after you’ve achieved something. It’s an honour for me to pass… or equal someone like Ricky Ponting. That’s not something that you aim for but obviously he’s a great player and as batsmen we all respect what these legends have done,” said Kohli at the Post match press-conference.

The run machine is quite far from reaching Sachin Tendulkar’s world record of 49 tons in ODI. On being asked whether he is eyeing to break that record in future, Kohli said,”It feels like to equal one, but as you said the great man is (chuckles) quite a bit away. That’s going to take a hell of an effort. Again, I am not thinking about that. It’s only about the team where even if I score a 90 not out and the team goes across the line, its good enough for me.”
