Internet Desk: Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag had only sent a two-line application to the BCCI for the Indian Cricket Team head coach’s post, as per “The Indian Express” report.

After receiving the application, the BCCI again asked him to send a elaborate application. His application read: “Mentor and a coach of Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League and has played with all these (Indian) boys before.”

The Indian Express quoted a BCCI source: “Sehwag being Sehwag has sent his application in two lines. There was no CV attached to it. We had to ask him to send his CV too along with his application. After all it will be the first time he is set to appear for the interview.”

Sehwag was Kings XI Punjab’s mentor in the recently ended IPL 2017.

Anil Kumble’s term as India national team coach will end after the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

After Kumble’s appointment as India’s head coach last year, the team has done really well under his guidance. In last 1 year the team has bagged 5 Test series on the trot against West Indies, New Zealand, England, Bangladesh and Australia. The Men in Blue had also played two ODI series against New Zealand and England and clinched both the series convincingly.

After the Australia series, it was in news that the BCCI was unhappy with Kumble and the legendary leg-spinner also had a quarrel with skipper Virat Kohli as per sources.

Just before the ICC Champions Trophy, the apex body invited applications for India’s next head coach. Virender Sehwag, Tom Moody, Richard Pybas, Dodda Ganesh and Lalchand Rajput have applied for the top post, while Kumble will get a direct entry in the interview.

A three-member BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee comprising of legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman will conduct the coach’s interviews in London.
