Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin did not have an impressive outing for Surrey in the opening day of the County Championship game against Somerset at the Oval on Sunday. Although Ashwin returned with just one wicket, but he bowled a peach of a delivery to get rid of Somerset batsman Tom Lammonby. The 21 year old batsman was foxed by the experienced Indian off spinner to see his off stump uprooted.  The County Championship shared the video of the dismissal on its official twitter handle.

Ashwin has decided to play the county championship game for Surry in a bid to prepare for India’s upcoming five match test series against England. The conditions in England will not be to be ideal for spinners and Ashwin is aware of the fact.  Hence, the 34-year-old decided to get have some match practice ahead of facing Joe Root & England batsmen.

Ashwin getting used to the conditions is certainly not a great piece of news for Joe Root’s men and they must be prepared to tackle turning deliveries even in overcast conditions. He was last seen in action at the ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton. Some questions were raised over his selection in the playing XI as the track was green and dark clouds were dominating the sky for the major part of the contest. But his bowling on the sixth and final day impressed everyone. Virat Kohli will be hoping to see Ashwin playing a stellar role on the wickets that has very little to offer for the spinners.
