US Open 2021 Qualifiers: Ankita Raina, Sumit Nagal crashes out of Qualifiers

Xtra Time Web Desk: India’s challenge at the US Open singles qualifiers ended on Tuesday with Ankita Raina, Sumit Nagal and Ramkumar Ramanathan all crashing out. India’s No 1 ranked women’s tennis player Ankita Raina lost her qualifying match against US’ Jamie Loeb 3-6, 6-2, 4-6.

India’s Sumit Nagal, who is ranked 165 in ATP list, was defeated by lowly ranked Argentine player Juan Pablo Ficovich in the qualifying round of the US Open. The match lasted for two hours and twenty-six minutes with the end results of 7-5, 4-6 and 6-3 in favour of Ficovich.

During the game, Juan Pablo Ficovich succeeded in breaking his opponent’s serve 3 times. He also achieved 70% effectiveness in the first service, committed a double fault and took 67% of the service points.

Another Indian in the fray Ramkumar Ramanathan too lost the qualifiers. He went down fighting to 30th seed and former top 100 player Evgeny Donskoy 6-4,6-7 & 4-6 in the 1st qualifying round.
