Xtra Time Web Desk: Sunrisers Hyderabad’s teenage pace sensation Umran Malik on Wednesday gave full credit to Dale Steyn. The former Proteas fast bowler has been working overtime with Umran at the SRH nets. And the results are for everyone to see.

“We plan during the net practice like match situation. Working with him (Dale Steyn) is fun as he is such a big legend and he always keeps sharing his plans,” said Umran in an interview to Sunrisers Hyderabad media.

The fast bowler from Jammu & Kashmir has been a revelation in the ongoing IPL season. Umran, who bowled the fastest ball of the season at 154 kmph against CSK’s Ruturaj Gaikwad, has consistently clocked in excess of 145 kmph.

Umran’s stock ball is his toe crashing yorkers at express pace. His deadly yorkers has already accounted for a no of dismissals. The fast bowler also credited senior teammates Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Natarajan for their constant guidance.

According to Umran, “Bhuvi bhai always helped me whenever I go upto him for suggestion and Nattu also shares his inputs about bowling Yorkers.”

Umran was retained by the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise ahead of IPL 2022. He is grateful to the franchise for keeping faith in him.

“I would thank the franchise for retaining me. My only aim is to do well. This is my first season. I played only 4 matches’ last season. My aim is to play well in all matches.”

In the last match against Chennai Super Kings, Umran went for a lot of runs. CSK opener Ruturaj Gaikwad played him confidently as he went on to score 99 runs.

“I went for lot of runs in second match. But coaches told me to not get disheartened. They backed me and that give me a lot of boost. I wanted to win matches for my franchise,’ said Umran.

He added, “Last match Ruturaj batted well. He was in top form. We still have five matches remaining. My aim will be to help my team to win all the remaining five matches. We have to remain positive.”
