Internet Desk: The first ever multi-city marathon in India flagged off from the India gate this morning. The run named as ‘Great India Run’ will cover seven cities of north-west India. The Ultra Marathon runners across Asia, Africa, USA and Europe will run for 1480 km.

Today through a grand ceremony the run started up. Union sports Minister Vijay Goel and World Athletics Championship medalist Anju Bobby George flagged off the event. 15 national and international ultra runners started under the leadership of Arun Bhardwaj.

The ‘Great India Run’ was a plan to inspire people to be fit and healthy. An event to be continued for 21days at the time of Pro Kabaddi and WBO Asia-Pacific, this event will draw general attention, expects high popularity.

Apart from the 1480km run today ‘Fun Run’ was conducted in all the cities the marathon will cover. It will conclude at Mumbai. The run from Delhi will move on to Jaipur and pass through Ahmedabad to culminate in Mumbai. The total pit cities are Ghaziabad, Delhi, Gurgaon, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Silvassa and Mumbai. actor Milind Soman will run the stretch between Ahmedabad and Mumbai.
